Meet Damon Harrell

I am a Marine Corps veteran, husband, father, small business professional, and conservative leader running for Sparks City Council to restore common sense, accountability, and local control to city government.

I believe local government should work for families—not bureaucracies—and that decisions affecting Sparks should be made by the people who live here, raise families here, and invest in this community every day.

Service before Self

My foundation was forged in the United States Marine Corps, where he learned discipline, leadership, accountability and the importance of putting the mission and team above self. The Marine Corps instilled in me a deep respect for responsibility, preparation and earning trust through action - not words.

I carry those principles into public service today. I believe leadership is not about rhetoric or recognition; it is about doing the hard work, asking tough questions and standing firm when decisions affect the people you serve.

A Family Man First

I have been married to my wife Angel, for over 24 years, and together we are raising two sons we adopted at birth who are the center of my world. Like many families in Sparks, we juggle work, school, sports, faith, and community life while navigating rising costs, public safety concerns, and a city growing faster than its infrastructure.

Those experiences give me a grounded perspective: city policies aren’t abstract—they affect real families at the dinner table.

Why I'm Running

I am running because Sparks is at a crossroads.

Residents are feeling unheard. Development decisions are being made without sufficient transparency. Taxes, fees, and regulations continue to grow while accountability shrinks. I believes Sparks deserves leadership that listens first, explains decisions clearly, and puts residents—not politics—at the center of every vote.

I am not running to climb a political ladder. I am running to serve—just like I always have.

A Conservative, Common-Sense Vision

I believes in:

  • Fiscal responsibility and respect for taxpayer dollars
  • Public safety as a core, non-negotiable function of government
  • Protecting neighborhoods, open spaces, and property values
  • Transparent decision-making and honest communication
  • Local solutions—not one-size-fits-all mandates
  • Respect for families, small businesses, and community traditions

I believe city government should do fewer things—but do them well.

Leadership You Can Trust

I bring a steady hand, a servant’s heart, and a Marine’s resolve to the challenges facing Sparks. I believe leadership means showing up, listening carefully, asking hard questions, and making decisions based on principle—not pressure.

This campaign is about restoring trust, protecting what makes Sparks special, and ensuring the city remains a great place to live—not just today, but for generations to come.
